Dance program
Six times a year we arrange intensive dance and music courses in Cuba. It’s been twenty years since we arranged our very first course. It often happens that our course participants rejoin us in Cuba after a while. Because if you have visited this amazing Salsa island once, and have gotten the culture and dancing close to your heart, then it’s very difficult to not long to return to Cuba.
The dance courses are arranged by Cuban Culture Club in cooperation with The National Dance school (Escuela Nacional de Arte) in Havana. The lessons are taught by professional Cuban teachers from the school, which are specially selected among Cuba’s best from ENA and ISA.
It’s possible to study at the school, as long as you want, after the course has ended. We’ll help you with acceptance at the school.
All course participants get their own Cuban dance partner, who will assist the participants and dance together during the course. All the participants will also receive a diploma from the dance school by the end of the course. The courses last 14 days and are held in Havana, only 10 minutes from centrum. The Danish travel guide is Stine Ortvad. Stine is educated from The National Dance school (Escuela Nacional de Arte) in Havana. She has also lived in Cuba for 5 years.
Course program
The lessons are divided by level. There are 3 hours of lessons daily, from Monday till Friday, from 9:30 – 13:00. There will be breaks for a total of 30 minutes.

09.30 - 10.30 Son, Mambo, Cha Cha Cha, Rumba and Afro-Cuban dancing
10.30 - 10.40 Break
10.40 - 11.40 Salsa couples dancing
11.40 - 12.00 Break
12.00 - 13.00 Rueda de Casino
After lunch, it’s possible to take an extra lesson in both weeks with your dance partner or the dance teacher during the second week, but you have to make individual agreements.
Activities included in the program the first week
- Monday afternoon: there will be a guided tour in the old town “Old Havana”.
- Tuesday afternoon: along with all the Cubans, we will go to a Salsa concert after the daily lesson and have dinner after.
- Wednesday afternoon: we will have an excursion to the Cuban National Dance School, here we will watch how the Cuban students train.
- Thursday afternoon: calls for complete relaxation in the afternoon, in the evening we will go to a salsa disco, along with all the Cubans.
- Friday afternoon – the second week: is the end of the course, here we will relax with the Cubans by the pool.
Apart from the activities in the first week, there is a range of activities you can participate in. There are a lot of music venues in Havana, where you can experience live salsa concerts every day. Other than that you can experience folklore music and dance venues, such as The Folkloristic National Ballet, Santeria parties (religious ceremonies), dance and theatre shows, one Afro-Cuban museum, cabaret shows, trips to the beach, swimming with dolphins, one-day trips to Pinar del Rio and much more.
These activities are not organized trips, but rather opportunities, which the guide encourages the course participants to experience on their own, in the group or together with him.
